Women of the Moose Happenings
The WOTM are getting ready for a busy holiday season. Starting on October 21st we will be participating in the annual Halloween Parade. If you want to walk with us, be at the Moose by 6. The kid's Halloween party will be on Saturday, October 25 between 11 and 1. Get the little goblins dressed up and bring them to the Moose for a howling good time.
On Saturday, November 8th we will hold our annual Soup & Bake Sale at the lodge. Donations are appreciated. The times for this event are 11 to 3. On Sunday, November 30th the WOTM will be serving breakfast as it is the 5th Sunday of the month. Please come and support us at this breakfast.
Come to the Moose on Tuesday, December 9th at 6 for the WOTM Christmas Party. Letters will be sent to all the co-workers regarding the menu and reservations. Saturday, December 13th is the date that all the kids wait for--the arrival of Santa Claus from 12:30 to 1:30 and then a Secret Santa Workshop will be open from 1:30 to 2:30. During this time the WOTM will be holding basket raffles too. Again, donations are very much appreciated. Merry Christmas to all from the Selinsgrove WOTM # 2244.

Hello Lodge Brothers
As of this writing, Selinsgrove Lodge #1173 has twice failed to have a membership meeting in the past four weeks due to a lack of a quorum (7 members constitutes a quorum). The IRS can revoke our non profit status for failing to hold membership meetings, effectively ending the life of the Selinsgrove Moose.
This lodge has nearly one half million dollars in assets and does one quarter million dollars in business annually. And yet we can not put seven members from a list of 850 plus in the seats for a forty five minute meeting.
Everyday I hear on the news how someone embezzled thousands to tens of thousands of dollars from organizations like Vets, fire companies, little leagues etc. due to lack of oversight by the members and those groups having to close up shop.
Don't let this happen to your lodge. Please come out to a meeting every once in a while and protect your interest in the lodge. Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month.
